These clients desired a unique space for visitor use without missing any of their usual home comforts. A stickler for cleanliness, they also required an easy maintenance space. The freestanding building allows for privacy and features a living space, bedroom, laundry room, garage & viewing deck. Passing through a spacious patio, guests are greeted by a custom metal door that hints at the lavish interior. Large-format tile runs throughout, while expansive windows allow unparalleled desert views. A curved console houses the TV, hidden from view when not in use, and allows one to enjoy the natural scenery while seated. The fireplace hosts a sandstone slab, cased in burnished metal, which formed the color palette used throughout. A custom chandelier highlights the metal dining table & ties to the pendants in the kitchen. Dimensional hardware is set against modern slab cabinetry in warm wood tones to create an air of elegance. Limestone brick in a herringbone pattern offsets nicely from the artisan backsplash. The bedroom features a teak headboard, a luxuriously soft rug & one of a kind artwork. In the bath, skylights are incorporated to allow a flow of natural light. Floating cabinetry is used for easy wall-to-wall cleaning, with lit mirrors above wall-mount faucets in the backsplash. Textured, large-scale tile is used in the shower to create a relaxing space, while copper vessel sinks forge a link to the natural environment. The laundry room has plenty of storage & doubles as a mudroom off the garage.
