The Golden Sonoran Remodel celebrates the essence of modern desert living through rich golden tones, organic textures, and refined architectural craftsmanship. Brought into the project as a completely demoed shell, Katherine Mueller Design transformed the raw space into a warm, sophisticated retreat that feels distinctly Arizona, radiant, inviting, and timeless.
From the start, the design vision was rooted in balance: blending luxury with livability, structure with softness. Working alongside structural engineers, the team achieved one of the home’s most defining features, a breathtaking cantilevered fireplace, suspended with 5,000 pounds of stone. This sculptural focal point anchors the main living area, merging engineering precision with artistic expression.
Every element of the interior was custom designed to complement the architecture and desert landscape beyond. The bar showcases rich walnut cabinetry with striking gold inlays, while the kitchen features a dramatic waterfall slab island and a handcrafted live-edge table, commissioned to honor the homeowners’ request for a natural, one-of-a-kind gathering space. The pantry and laundry were reimagined to create an effortless flow, ensuring beauty and function coexist in every square foot.
In the primary suite, custom bedding, furniture, and layered designer accessories evoke a serene, luxurious atmosphere. The primary bath continues the theme of indulgent comfort, featuring a freestanding tub and a spacious steam shower, a private spa experience within the home.
Throughout the design process, every detail was intentionally curated to reflect the clients’ lifestyle and the spirit of the Sonoran landscape. The result is a cohesive, elevated home that feels both modern and deeply connected to its environment.
