The goal of this Scottsdale Adobe Refresh was to modernize the home while honoring the character and architectural beauty that made it special. Rather than erase its history, we embraced the home’s original adobe-inspired design elements and carefully introduced updated finishes, materials, and details that enhance its timeless appeal.
One of the most important decisions was preserving the original ceiling, allowing the home’s architectural character to remain the focal point. Throughout the renovation, every material was selected to complement and elevate the existing structure while creating a more refined and functional living experience.
In the great room, the fireplace wall became a defining feature of the space. A striking combination of materials creates visual interest and warmth, while a custom abstract metal fireplace feature serves as a sculptural focal point. Floating shelving and custom walnut cabinetry were incorporated to provide both beauty and function while creating a seamless connection to the adjacent kitchen.
The kitchen was thoughtfully reimagined to better support everyday living and entertaining. New countertops, custom walnut cabinetry, and updated appliances transformed the space into a warm and inviting environment designed for both cooking and gathering.
In the primary suite, we focused on creating a retreat-like atmosphere. The headboard wall was redesigned to add depth and visual interest, while the fireplace wall was enhanced with richly textured tile and floating shelving that bring warmth and sophistication to the room.
The primary bathroom was especially important to our clients, with the search for the perfect freestanding tub guiding much of the design process. The result is a luxurious spa-inspired retreat centered around a stunning tub nook featuring elevated lighting and dramatic graphic tile. The tile carries seamlessly from the shower into the tub alcove, creating continuity and a strong visual statement while reinforcing the sense of relaxation and escape.
The completed home beautifully balances modern luxury with the enduring charm of classic Scottsdale adobe architecture.
