The original focus of this project was the homeowner’s desire for a functional and appealing home office. To fully maximize storage in the existing space, a furniture layout was designed utilizing custom-built furnishings in a timeless transitional aesthetic. After exceeding the client’s expectations with the completion of this project, the scope was further expanded to include their living and dining room as well as a kitchen transformation.
In the living room, the 1990’s fireplace façade was striped and replaced with a stunning steel veneer to provide a fantastic focal point. One-of-a-kind metal doors were also fabricated for the entertainment center to access the audio-visual components, and allow remote control functionality. To accommodate the traffic pattern of the living room, a specially designed trilateral coffee table was created, and placed between the sofas. Additional accessories such as pillows and rugs reflecting a desert contemporary style were chosen to contribute warmth and interest. In the kitchen, the original footprint was maintained while the cabinetry was refaced in rich alder. An innovative cork mosaic tile was installed to the front of the kitchen island to provide a protective surface, and withstand daily use. An extraordinary backsplash was fashioned from glass to supply color and texture to the kitchen while dramatic granite countertops, and new stainless steel appliances completed the update. The dining room was accented with a brilliant elliptical chandelier to spread light throughout the area, and highlight the engaging art work. A striking buffet utilizing natural materials of radiant copper and lavish wood added a treasured furniture piece to the dining room, and will be enjoyed for many years.
